Checks for NMB and TAG


I found it very interesting that they would schedule two of the airplanes in for checks at the same time. NMB & TAG are shown in the photo. Of course, I was the Flight Engineer on both machines. One was based in Singapore and the other one in Paris. The green tailed plane was brought in after the one with the Nr. 1 engine showing. The most challenging check was the "combination" aircraft--cargo up front, passengers in the back. We had to test hop it 16 times before we got the rascal where smoke would no get to the cockpit. WOW! I flew on freighters for years and never was too concerned about smoke before! We did have a smoke screen, but the aircraft had a hard G-wall. I guess they needed the shelf space, but it was costly. We had a radio rack on the main deck with a spare unit for all radio equipment in the Lower 41 area.(electronic compartment). Posted by Hello
