A New Hangar for OUr DC-3 at the CR Smith Museum. Being Built.

DC-3 Hangar and The Flagship Knoxville History

The centerpiece of the C.R. Smith Museum is our completely restored 1940s era DC-3, the Flagship Knoxville. Thanks to the concerted effort of The DC-3 Coalition, The Grey Eagles, a host of volunteers and American Airlines, The Knoxville is now protected from the extremes of Texas climate.

The Knoxville sits in the center of its bright, beautiful home - a retro-design, glass hangar with an "airfoil" roof that helps preserve the nostalgia of the 1940s, an era when the DC-3 revolutionized commercial airline travel. The floor of the building is made up of personalized bricks that are sold, engraved and placed as a permanent part of this very special building. If you are interested in purchasing a brick, call 817-967-5904 or e-mail info.crsmithmuseum@aa.com to request a brick application. You can also select "Brick Application" below, print the application and mail it to us. Or pick one up the next time you're in the museum. There are only a limited number of spaces left to fill, so act quickly!
