Ear to The SKY..........Very Large Array in N.M.

Two of my fellow club members Hazel and I visited the VLA some time ago and was amazed at it's size and operation. We were standing under it and the operator moved it and Jack and I started to run. The darn thing moves fast. It was a very interesting trip.
The reason I was so interested is I was flying a trip to L.A and our flight path took us strait over the top of the range. I saw them build all of the antennas in a hanger on the property. Well I saw a litlle as we went by at a very low altitude. When they finished the project I called out and they told Hazel, Randall and I to come out and they would give us a scientist tour. This was in May of 1979... WOW it was great.
They sure take those Radios down cold,cold.....BRRRRRRR...... Darn near ABSOLUTE
