Test HOP in Orlando FL...ANTI SKID

A very interesting day of flight testing a Nippon Minature Bearing Boeing 707. This picture was made before the test while taxing to the end of the runway.

The test of the day was assigned to us to test the anti-skid of the airplane. This procedure was followed to the letter. We were to take position on the runway apply Max power release the brakes turn on the anti-skid and move down the runway accelerating up to 100 kts. then apply max brakes to check the ANTI SKID system. As we were applying full brakes to check the system we heard several loud thumps and a couple bangs. We came to a stop on the runway having used up appx. half of the runway. We knew from experience that things didn't come off as antisipated...
When we finally stopped using all the runway we were told by the control tower to turn left at the end of the runway. They told us we had closed the airport due to smoke from the tires. Doing this we got out of the aircraft and found we had blown out 5 of the 8 tires on the two main gears.
This was a bad deal but even more embarrasing was the President of NMB was just arriving in Florida from Tokyo and saw the entire show. They towed us to the Hangar and upon inspection we found 4 wires crossed on the anti skid electrical system.
After fixing the system we stayed in Florida another six weeks test hopping the aircraft and then flew it to Singapore. BY the way after arriving in in SIN we made schedule the next day for Tokyo without a single complaint. Aren't we GOOD
